Medical Massage
Medical Massage is quickly becoming a popular modality to help with chronic conditions and assist with other therapies such as Physical Therapy, Acupuncture, and Chiropractic Treatments.

 

Medical Massage
  • Uses Mayofascial Release Techniques to specifically address problem areas
  • Based on Medical Massage Stretches 
  • May include trigger point therapy where appropriate
  • Can use techniques from other modalities to problem solve such as
    • Swedish
    • Shiatsu
    • Reflexology
  • Relieves muscle tension discomfort for people who suffer from chronic conditions such as Sciatica, Frozen Shoulder, Millitary Neck, Tension Headaches, TMJ pain, Carpal Tunnel Symptoms, Tennis Elbow Symptoms, Hip and Leg Pain, Plantar Fasciitis, Post Joint Surgery Recovery such as Knee Replacement or Repair, Rotator Cuff Repair. Can help Asthma Sufferers.
  • Appropriate for athletes and people with muscle tension from over use and work related strains
  • Appropriate for Seniors and people who suffer from arthritis and osteopenia
  • Appropriate for people who suffer from fibromyalgia
  • Compliments Physical Therapy or Chiropractic Treatments but does not replace them
  • Problem areas are the concentration.
  • MRI Summary or Physical Therapy Diagnosis helpful
**Some symptoms, such as posture related strains are best treated through Physical Therapy.

Medical Contraindications include but are not limited to: Deep Vein Thrombosis, Untreated High Blood Pressure, Uncontrolled Diabetes, Cancer of Any Kind, Liver or Kidney Disease, Heart Disease, Osteoporosis, etc.

  • Promotes relaxation and stress reduction.

  • Appropriate for second and third trimesters with Physician's Approval

  • Relieves muscular tension.

  • Decreases edema arms and legs.

**Contraindicated for women with high risk pregnancies, have gestational diabetes, or have preeclampsia

Contraindications:
You should not receive a massage if you have the following conditions as recommended by the American Massage Therapy Association:
  • Pulmonary Embolism
  • Deep Vein Thrombosis
  • Cold, Flu or COVID
  • Fever
  • Contagious Skin disease or infection
  • Fractures
  • Cancer
  • Liver or Kidney Disease
  • If advised by doctor or physician not to receive massage.
